Kelham Hall Ltd, the company behind Victorian wedding venue Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire, has called in administrators after entering liquidation.
A statement released by the owners on Kelham Hall's website stated that the popular wedding venue has now ceased trading and appointed professional administrators to help manage its future, including the many weddings and events that are scheduled to be held at the site in the coming year.
According to the statement, suppliers and those who have booked events at Kelham Hall have been notified that the company has gone into liquidation and that they have cancelled any future reservations.
The statement read: "Please be advised that Kelham Hall Limited ceased trading on Wednesday 23rd June as a result of the continuing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The mortgagee has now taken possession of the property and the campsite and fishing pegs are closed."
It added: "Insolvency practitioners have been appointed to place the company into liquidation and they will be in contact with all creditors in due course."
The Grade I listed building was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and was originally built in 1863. It was used as the headquarters of Newark and Sherwood District Council for 40 years before it was taken over by Kelham Hall Limited in 2014 in a deal that was believed to be worth £3 million.
The venue was sold on to hotelier Jonathan Pass in 2018, who planned to use the site to build a business centre, spa and boutique hotel. It was originally listed on the market by Christie & Co in June 2020 with a guide price of £10 million.
