Avidrail, an acquisition vehicle headed by Svella Plc chairman Andrew Tinkler, has completed the first stage of its investment in railway contractor Emeg Group. The deal will provide working capital to finance Emeg Group’s future growth, including acquisitions.
Chesterfield-based Emeg Group is a railway mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering services provider. The company was founded in 1997 and provides services including infrastructure, construction and depot and office design.
With the backing of Svella’s operational network, the investment from Avidrail will enable Emeg to extend its geographical presence across the North of England, the Midlands and Southern Scotland.
The deal will provide working capital for Emeg to invest in acquisitions, asset purchases, people and skills as it seeks to ramp up its growth strategy.
Andrew Tinkler said that Avidrail looks forward to supporting Emeg “in delivering a sustainable growth strategy.”
He continued: "Supported by and working collaboratively with Avidrail, Emeg Group will expand its in-house capabilities and offer a full, in-house turnkey solution – generating value for customers and adding complementary expertise to the business.”
"Svella's successful strategy is based on providing hands-on investment and supporting the management team to unlock the growth potential in the business, helping deliver operational improvement and value for all stakeholders."
Emeg Group chairman Richard Simmonite said that the investment provided “the foundation for a vibrant and secure future for both the business and its dedicated workforce.”
He added that Avidrail and Svella’s support will reinforce the group’s reputation for delivering services and “create new opportunities to expand its in-house capabilities and customer proposition.”
He continued: "Emeg will benefit from a strategy focused on long-term, sustainable growth and innovation, combined with continued collaboration with its valued supply chain partners, whose contributions remain integral to Emeg’s future development and success."
