The Whitehouse pub in Liverpool City Centre has been put onto the market again, just nine months after it was last sold.
The pub, which is located on the corner of Berry Street and Duke Street, is painted with a giant rat holding a marker pen – one of secretive graffiti artist Banksy's best-known works.
Snapped up in February of this year by nightclub owner Sina Moradian and his business partner for £114,000 - £34,000 above the pub's auction guide price – the pub is now to be auctioned again, with a price tag of £175,000.
The Banksy pub will go under the hammer on 19 November at Venmore auctioneers, alongside more than 70 residential and commercial lots. BBC programme 'Homes Under the Hammer' will film the event, due to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool One.
Last month, plans were put forward to develop the area next to the pub into a major mixed-use project. Nick Ball, head of auctions at Venmore, said, “Given what is happening in the area now, the owners want to see what somebody else is prepared to pay for the site. The location is highly visible on a busy route in and out of the city.”
