Commercial business properties are being sought by B&M Retail as they plan a £48 million commercial property expansion.
B&M, which was formed in 1976, opened its first outlet in Blackpool but now has more than 190 shops. It employs more than 5,000 staff. Over the last two years, expansion has been rapid to say the least – the Arora brothers have opened a new commercial property premises at an average rate of one new store per week.
Brothers Simon and Bobby Arora now plan to open more stores around the country under the B&M Bargains trade name. The planned expansion of its store base, with the focus being on stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland. is worth an estimated £48 million.
The deal will see another 36 stores come under the B&M banner, which will have a stronger bias towards homewares.
B&M Retail, which sells branded goods from food and toiletries to toys and electricals through its B&M Bargains stores, says the deal is important as it will allow the chain to extend its geographical reach.
Managing director Simon Arora said, “This acquisition is strategically important to us and allows us to expand the business into new parts of the UK such as Scotland and Northern Ireland, where we are under-represented.”
Mr Arora went on to say that he hopes the brand can now gain a greater presence throughout the country's retail parks, with high streets previously targeted as store bases.
