An engineering consultancy based in Newcastle has secured private equity investment to bolster its global expansion plans and customer support. Black & White Engineering, which was founded in 2007, provides mechanical, electrical and plumbing design engineering services.
The firm has offices across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia, with a team of more than 500 staff. The investment from Waterland, overseen by KBS Corporate, will provide support for the firm as it seeks to expand into new territories and support its growing customer base.
The company plans to execute its growth strategy by both organically growing its footprint in new geographies, as well as by targeting strategic acquisitions across Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Black & White Engineering founder Mick Cairns will continue in his role as CEO following the deal, with the company’s existing leadership team also remaining in place.
Cairns commented: "We are delighted to be partnering with Waterland and leveraging their track record of international growth and acquisition experience. We are looking forward to supercharging the momentum we have built, with Waterland acting as a hands-on partner which supports our vision and ambitions."
Waterland Private Equity partner Wendy McMillan added: "We look forward to supporting Mick and the senior team in this next chapter and will continue to back their philosophy of investing in people and working together with the best talent to create a global leader in engineering for the data centre market.”
"We will be leveraging our network and expertise in acquisitions and international expansion to help Black & White reach the next level and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the business.”
