In Scotland, there has been a 32 per cent rise in corporate insolvencies in the first quarter of this year. However, personal insolvencies have dropped by 9 per cent over the same period.
This is in stark contrast to figures for the rest of the UK where corporate insolvencies have been falling but personal insolvencies have been rising.
Commenting on the corporate insolvency data, AIB, the body responsible for monitoring insolvencies in Scotland, has said it is too early to assume a trend.
