A care home business in Abercrave has been acquired out of administration in a deal that secures 43 jobs and ensures that residents can remain in their homes. Ty Mawr Nursing Home offers nursing, personal care and mental health provision.
Opened in 1984, the home provides services including convalescent care, day care, sheltered housing and palliative care. The facility underwent refurbishment in 2011 and is registered for a maximum of 54 residents.
The business fell into administration in early March 2025, with Huw Powell and Katrina Orum of Begbies Traynor in Cardiff appointed as joint administrators. The joint administrators subsequently operated the care home, with support from Lucy Corner and the team at Cornerstone Care, during the administration period.
Ty Mawr Nursing Home has now been acquired by Sirajali Panjwani, Shyam and Nisha Done of Mawr Care Ltd in a deal negotiated by Oliver McCarthy and Rob Kinsman at Christie & Co Solicitors. Abigail Hadfield and team at TLT acted for Begbies Traynor, while Llyr Williams of Swayne Johnson acted for the purchaser.
Begbies Traynor partner and joint administrator Huw Powell commented: "We are delighted to have secured a sale for Ty Mawr Nursing Home, saving 43 jobs and ensuring that more than 30 residents can stay in their home.”
The purchasers already operate a group of care homes across the UK. In a statement, they said that their priority was “to ensure that residents continue to experience a warm, comfortable, and enriching environment” and thanked Begbies Traynor for “facilitating a smooth and seamless completion.”
They continued: "We are committed to investing in the future of Ty Mawr and look forward to introducing best practices from our established portfolio of care homes across the UK. Our goal is to enhance the quality of care and overall experience for every resident."
