Logistics and engineering services group Flegg Projects has been bought by Ainscough Industrial Services (AIS) in its largest ever deal.
Flegg Projects, whose shareholders were advised on the sale by dealmakers at Gerald Edelman, specialises in everything from specialist equipment moves to full factory relocations and system installations, serving a range of blue-chip clients across multiple sectors. Its dedicated medical division has earned a strong reputation in medical equipment logistics.
Led by siblings, Jayson Flegg and Kiersten Cox, Flegg Projects has delivered consistent revenue growth and industry-leading margins, positioning it for future success. It is currently on track to generate revenue of £9.3 million this fiscal year.
The business operates from two sites in Aylesbury, employing 55 people. It runs more than 40 commercial vehicles and vans as well as a wholly owned fleet of specialist lifting equipment.
Wigan-based AIS is an international group of engineering companies. Its subsidiaries – AIS Vanguard, AIS Eurelo, AIS Wind Energy and VIG Industrial Relocation – specialise in lifting, removing, relocating, installing and decommissioning industrial equipment and machinery, as well as providing CDM and project management services.
Operating from 15 sites across the UK and Europe, AIS supports industrial operators across key sectors, including energy, aerospace, pharmaceutical, and automotive.
The deal strengthens AIS' market position and broadens its capabilities, especially by establishing a presence in medical equipment logistics.
“We’re delighted to welcome Flegg Projects to the AIS Group. Fleggs, like AIS, is a business whose focus is on quality, service and safety through continued investment in the best possible people and equipment,” said Matt Ainscough, chief executive of AIS Group. "Demand for its services is increasing year-on-year and the company has identified a robust pipeline of opportunities, including significant potential projects with multinational firms and global conglomerates.”
He said that Flegg’s specialised medical division was unique in the UK and dovetails perfectly with AIS’s existing capabilities.
“Their transportation fleet, warehousing and OEM support functions immediately boost our market position and will propel the overall group offer moving forwards,” he added. "With this acquisition, alongside our existing companies, our machinery installation and removal capabilities are market leading in the UK and push us towards being one of the largest in Europe. We will continue to grow and will make further acquisitions where we can see true added value."
