The assets of three major British equestrian manufacturing brands have been acquired by saddle makers Bliss of London. The company swooped on the intellectual property, customer data, brand names and design patterns of E Jeffries Saddlery, Harry Dabbs and Vale Brothers from Baaj Capitol.
The acquisition, which was finalised last month, ensures that production for all three brands can resume, with operations being brought under one roof in Walsall, the traditional home of saddle making in England, at Bliss of London’s operation in the West Midlands.
The deal comes after Vale Brothers fell into administration in 2023, with its assets subsequently being acquired by DS59 Ltd, part of the Baaj Capitol group. The sale to prominent saddlery Bliss of London preserves the product heritage and brand identities.
Bliss of London Managing Director Nikki Newcombe said that the deal was an “exciting development” for the company, as well as the wider equestrian products manufacturing industry, and described the acquired brands as “iconic names with a rich legacy”.
She continued: "We're fully committed to preserving their heritage while offering the high standards of service and craftsmanship that Bliss is known for."
Newcombe said that saddle fitters and customers had faced a challenging few years, but that Bliss of London was already working to re-establish production and support services.
She added: “We know there is work to do, but we’re confident that with our team and infrastructure, we can revive these brands and give them the future they deserve
The acquisition excludes any trading liabilities and outstanding orders dating from the previous ownership. Holding company Jeffries Lifestyle Limited, created following the Vale Brothers administration in 2023, will continue to trade independently, retaining the Thermatex and Griffin NuuMed brands.
