United Air Power, a provider of compressed air services headquartered in Chester, has been acquired by global industrial manufacturer Ingersoll Rand for an undisclosed sum. The business, which generated revenues of £7.35 million last year, specialises in the design, installation, distribution and maintenance of manufacturing-critical compressed air systems and gas-related engineering services.
Founded in 1999 and operating with a team of 30 staff, United Air Power serves customers from a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical, aerospace, food and drink, glass and building materials. In addition to its base in Chester, the company also has operations in Tameside, Greater Manchester and Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Following the acquisition by New York Stock Exchange-listed Ingersoll Rand, the company will become part of the group’s compressor systems and services business across the Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India (EMEAI) region.
United Air Power founder and majority shareholder Dave Seenan, along with the management team, received corporate advice from Logros Advisory Partners. The transaction was led and delivered by Chris Evans and Brian Higgins of Logros.
Chris Evans commented: “United Air Power has built a strong reputation for delivering and servicing high-quality compressed air systems and energy-saving solutions to a wide range of blue-chip industrial customers. The acquisition marks a strategic expansion for Ingersoll Rand in the UK market, adding further depth to its service capabilities and customer reach.”
Evans added that United Air Power was a “highly-regarded compressor distribution business” and that the acquisition “reflects the quality of its service offering and its strong market position across the north.”
Laura McMorland and Nathan Hughes, from the Manchester office of Bermans, provided legal advice to United Air Power’s shareholders, while tax advice was provided by Stephen Bryce and John McCaffery of Alexander & Co.
Laura McMorland (pictured above) commented: “This is the second successful deal in the compressor distribution sector we have worked on alongside Chris Evans.”
“Compressed air systems have vast uses across a number of industries and their significant and vital role means that businesses of the type of UAP will be an attractive proposition to ambitious acquirers.”
