A concrete admixture manufacturer has enhanced its product range with the acquisition of a structural waterproofing specialist. Oscrete’s acquisition of Pudlo comes just over a year after the target company was rescued from administration by a new management team.
Formed in 1983, Bradford-based Oscrete is a UK supplier of specialist construction chemicals. The company manufactures and supplies a wide range of concrete admixtures for precast and ready-mix concrete, as well as ready-to-use mortar.
Pudlo, one of the oldest waterproofing brands in the world, is a supplier of structural waterproofing and gas protection systems, which are used in many below ground structures, as well as basements, swimming pools and podium decks.
Oscrete director Scott Wilson said that the acquisition aligned with the company’s “long-term strategy of sustainable growth through innovation and strategic partnerships”, saying that the deal reinforced its “commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality solutions to the construction sector.”
Last year, Pudlo fell into administration following the collapse of previous parent company DB Group (Holdings) Limited in February 2024. In May 2024, the company was acquired out of administration by a new management team, led by UK Property Repair Group Managing Director Malcolm Thornton.
Thornton saw the business as being complementary to his existing business Preservation Treatments Limited. Following the sale to Oscrete, UK Property Repair Group will retain a 25 per cent shareholding in Pudlo.
Commenting on the sale, Thornton said that Oscrete was “well-positioned to take Pudlo to new heights, leveraging their expertise and resources and enabling both operations to offer a broader spectrum of concrete admixture solutions while expanding their customer base throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.”
Pudlo Managing Director Gary Laird said that the partnership would provide opportunities for innovation and growth, while providing greater choice to customers.
