Derbyshire Specialist Aggregates has continued building up its business by snapping up Norwich-based distributor Resins R Us.
Derbyshire Specialist Aggregates said the multimillion-pound investment deal brings together two of the UK's most successful resin-bound companies and further strengthens their position in the market.
The deal adds to Derbyshire Specialist Aggregates’ existing network of eight sites across the UK, including its head office and main production facility in Youlgrave, Derbyshire.
Its services include dried aggregates, pebbledashing, highway applications and green roofing. Founded in 1984 its tagline is 'Aggregates are our passion'.
Its customers include builders, architects, garden designers and Local Authorities. According to its most recent results for the year ending December 31, 2023 it posted a turnover of £33 million, down from £39 million in 2022.
It blamed general trading conditions, but it was confident that they would improve in 2024.
Family owned firm Resins R Us, which also sells to builders, landscapers, architects and homeowners will continue to operate as an independent division, with no interruptions to service or deliveries. All customer contacts and purchasing processes will remain unchanged.
Sam Buckley, managing director of Derbyshire Specialist Aggregates, said: “We have long admired the customer service and delivery standards achieved by Resins R Us. Combining the resources and expertise of both companies will enable us to further enhance our resin-bound products and services, as well as strengthen our national coverage with a site in East Anglia.”
Flint Bishop’s corporate and finance team, led by partner Mark Wilcock, provided legal advice on the deal.
Wilcock said: “We were delighted to support Derbyshire Aggregates on this strategic acquisition, and we look forward to seeing the wider Derbyshire Aggregates Group thrive. The timetable for the legal process was challenging, but the team worked tirelessly to get this transaction completed ahead of the budget.”
