1912 Hotels St Pauls Limited, the newly established UK arm of Hamburg-based hotel group 1912 Hotels GmbH, has completed its first acquisition with a deal for a landmark hotel prominently situated in Sheffield’s city centre.
St Paul’s Hotel & Spa in Sheffield is a four-star hotel with 169 bedrooms, including classic rooms, privilege rooms and a junior suite. The hotel, which overlooks the Peace Gardens and Winter Garden, also features meeting and conference facilities, a spa with heated pool, sauna and gym, the Yard restaurant and a champagne bar.
The hotel remains open and fully operational following the acquisition, with 1912 Hotels St Pauls Limited promising a "gentle evolution in service, design accents, and curated moments". The group added that the acquisition was "just the beginning" and that it plans to announce further developments in early 2026.
1912 Hotels & Resorts Chief Executive Audun Lekve said that the group was “proud to begin our UK journey with such a strong and iconic property at the heart of the city."
1912 Hotels co-founder Katharina Hohn, meanwhile, said that the Sheffield acquisition was “the first of many steps for us in the UK and we are looking forward to sharing more very soon."
1912 Hotels St Pauls Limited was advised by DWF on the deal, which was led by corporate partner Alan Barnett and real estate associate Oliver Palmer, with support from tax senior associate Alex Tolcher, director Nigel Crebbin and licensing senior associate David Crank.
Alan Barnett described the deal as a “landmark acquisition” for 1912 Hotels, adding that it represented “a significant step in their UK growth journey, and we’re proud to have brought together a strong multi-disciplinary team to deliver a seamless result."
