The historic Bear Inn in the Derbyshire Dales has entered administration.
The characterful commercial property, which comprises a popular restaurant selling fresh local produce, a well-stocked bar and an eight-bedroom hotel, will continue to trade as normal whilst a buyer for the business is found.
The venue also includes two small self-contained holiday cottages, both of which offer stunning views across the River Derwent, and on-site car parking for visitors.
Accountancy firm PKF's Birmingham office is managing the hunt for a buyer, and said that a successful sale would be good news for all concerned, as it would help the workforce and allow the venue – which has been trading as a pub since the 17th century – to keep operating.
A partner at the accountancy firm, Brian Hamblin, told Insider Media, “A successful sale could save up to 20 jobs, as well as preserving a real piece of English history.”
Currently, the venue – which also offers catering for wedding parties and other events for as many as 80 people - has a turnover of around £850,000 per year.
