Private equity-backed accountancy and professional services firm DJH has continued its acquisitive growth with its first deal in Ireland. The Tenzing-backed company has acquired Dublin-based MSD Accountants for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition will provide the group with a natural bridge to serve clients operating within the EU, as well as providing a strong link into the UK for MSD clients operating there. MSD’s 30-strong team at its base on the Santry Business Park will continue to be led by Managing Partner Richard Daly and Head of Assurance Brendan Murtagh, ensuring continuity.
DJH Chief Operating Officer James Beardmore described Dublin as one of Europe’s “most significant financial hubs” and said the city “has become an increasingly attractive access point for UK firms looking to trade with the EU.”
He continued: “We’ve aspired to have a presence in the city for a long time and MSD Accountants is the perfect fit with its reputation for fantastic service and specialisms in several aligned sectors for us.”
“Importantly, it gives DJH multinational service capability and EU regulatory compliance for UK clients looking at cross-border planning, tax efficient structures and expanding their European operations through an Irish presence.”
MSD, which was founded in 1990, provides advisory, business support, assurance and tax services to clients ranging from large organisations and subsidiaries of multinationals to family businesses and mid-sized companies.
The company works across sectors including professional services, hospitality, information technology, communications, construction, distribution, entertainment and automotive.
MSD Managing Partner Richard Daly said the partnership would provide “additional expertise, enhanced capabilities and international reach”. He added that the deal would mean existing clients benefit from enhanced infrastructure and that clients operating in the UK would now enjoy a full service integrated offering.
DJH has now completed 15 acquisitions within four years, building a 670-strong multidisciplinary team operating across offices in Leeds, Manchester, Altrincham, Chester, Bury, Bexley, Derby, Halesowen, Huddersfield, Nantwich, Sheffield, Stoke-on-Trent, Walsall and now Dublin.
James Beardmore said that DJH’s first aim following the acquisition of MSD would be to increase the company’s organic growth “by extending services to existing clients and attracting new ones” and added that the deal would also provide “the perfect platform to target more M&A activity in Ireland.”
