Energy consultancy group Optimised has completed the acquisition of business energy services firm Control Energy Costs (CEC) in a deal supported by HSBC UK. The acquisition increases Optimised’s workforce to almost 200 staff and enhances its ability to tap into growing demand among businesses for energy solutions.
Redhill-based CEC helps businesses to save energy, cut carbon emissions and run their premises more efficiently. The company, which has been operating since 1981, supports clients in the implementation of carbon solutions to support Net Zero, as well as identifying savings opportunities, effectively managing consumption, undertaking utility connections and sitework projects and mitigating uncertainty over fluctuating energy costs.
The acquisition increases Optimised’s workforce from 130 to 180 and will enable the group to integrate CEC’s expertise into its utility management division. The addition of CEC’s Redhill office also bolsters the group’s regional presence, adding to existing locations in Bristol, Blackpool, Sittingbourne and Ashby De La Zouch.
Optimised director James Wood commented: "Businesses are facing increasing pressure to manage energy costs and meet sustainability goals. Integrating CEC into Optimised enhances our ability to provide strategic solutions that drive efficiency and resilience.”
Optimised was founded in 2002 and has grown from three specialist entities to become a major UK energy consultancy, helping businesses to reduce their carbon impact, improve energy efficiency and cut energy costs.
The acquisition of CEC, a significant milestone in the group’s continuing growth, was supported by a £4 million funding package from HSBC UK.
James Wood said that HSBC UK’s support had been "invaluable in ensuring a smooth transition, enabling us to scale quickly and drive greater impact."
HSBC UK Relationship Manager Gareth Clarkson added: "This acquisition brings together two industry leaders at a critical time for businesses seeking smarter energy solutions.”
"By combining expertise, Optimised and CEC are well-positioned to help clients navigate rising costs and sustainability demands with greater efficiency. We're proud to support the group's growth in this evolving sector."
