Environmental Resources Management (ERM), one of the world’s largest green consultancy firms, has been put on the market by Bridgepoint, which owns 57 per cent of the business.
The decision to sell the company was made after Goldman Sachs had been hired to conduct a strategic review. It is believed the business could sell for over £750 million.
An information memorandum is being prepared and will be sent to potential purchasers by the end of this month.
A number of private equity firms are said to be ‘extremely keen’ to begin negotiations to acquire ERM, which has been established for 39 years.
Environmental Resources Management provides environmental, risk management, health and safety and social consulting services from 130 offices spread across 40 countries. It employs around 3,600 staff in these offices and on projects that extend across 170 countries. Its clients include many FTSE 100 and Global Fortune 500 companies as well as many national governments. Last year, The company recorded sales of $606.5 million with profits of $84 million, down around 6 per cent on the previous year.
