Harley-Davidson dealer Dockgate 20 Motorcycles Ltd has called in business rescue experts David Rubin & Partners LLP after it decided not to renew its franchise agreements, due to expire on December 31.
The business, which has two dealerships - one in Southampton and the other in Slough, has not entered a formal insolvency procedure and could be sold as a going concern.
It is understood that the dealership’s Southampton showroom is still open, but customers looking to purchase any bikes are being directed to contact Eastbourne-based business rescue and insolvency firm Adam Smith Business Developments Ltd.
Up to 18 employees face losing their jobs at the business. One member of staff said: “The staff are no longer employed here and we won’t be paid next month.”
A spokesperson for the business rescue firm is reported to have commented that the intention is for Dockgate to continue trading but couldn’t comment on whether the dealerships will remain open or if the employees are retained in their jobs.
The dealerships sell and maintain new and used Harley-Davidson motorcycles, motor clothes and collectibles.
