Convenience food supplier Tiffin Sandwiches has acquired food-to-go manufacturer Love Bites in what it describes as a strategic move. Both firms are based in Bradford, with Tiffin saying the deal reflects its commitment to sustainable growth in the city.
Love Bites was founded by husband and wife Richard and Gill Smith in 1991. The company manufactures a wide variety of snacks, including sandwiches, wraps, rolls, pizzas and salad, as well as heat-to-eat items. Tiffin Sandwiches said in a statement that the firm was “a cherished local sandwich manufacturer”.
Tiffin’s statement added that they would seek to retain Love Bites’ staff post-acquisition and provide growth opportunities within the expanded business. The company also announced that Richard Smith will remain with the business post-sale.
The statement continued: “The potential for growth and expansion in the coming years is significant, and we look forward to collaborating with the exceptional team at Love Bites. By integrating sustainable practices and focusing on community engagement, we are poised to elevate this local business while contributing positively to the Bradford economy.”
Speaking to industry publication Just Food, Tiffin Sandwiches director Mark Salisbury said that the strategic deal aligns with the company’s growth objectives, leverages’ Love Bites’ “established sales in complimentary markets” and also brings in “an efficient manufacturing process and stable, dedicated workforce.”
Love Bites operates from a 10,000 square foot site and factory in Bradford and Tiffin Sandwiches has said it plans to invest in the facility following the acquisition, including upgrading its infrastructure and machinery to ensure efficiency, while prioritising sustainability.
Tiffin said that the investment was “designed to foster a culture of sustainability, aligning with our vision for responsible business practices.”
The acquisition continues a period of growth for Tiffin, following its takeover of fellow sandwich producer PJ Foods in April 2025 and the announcement that it plans to build a new 50,000 sq ft manufacturing facility next to its existing site.
