The owners of a Highland landmark hotel have put a ‘for sale’ sign up with a price of £825,000, as they prepare to retire.
The Lochalsh hotel, which over looks the sea to Skye from its waterfront position in Kyle of Lockalsh, has several eager potential buyers already.
“There is lots of scope for this business as we continue to see a boom in the number of tourists visiting this area”, said Jeff Collins, of Inverness-based commercial property valuers Allied Souter and Jaffrey.
“The West Highlands is also among the UK’s most exciting destinations for outdoor pursuits, so there’s lots of potential... to advertise to enthusiasts.”
The 47-bedroom hotel was formerly a lodge owned by Sir Alexander Matheson. When the Highland Railway reached Skye in around 1897, Matheson’s son Sir Kenneth sold the lodge on to the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company.
The hotel, known as the Station Hotel, was still using oil lamps and candles in 1930, allegedly. After undergoing expansion, its name was changed during the 1950s. Today its yearly revenue reaches above £500,000.
In a prime location, this freehold business opportunity includes a detached, well-equipped bakery factory along with a retail outlet and cafe, all part of a family business with a century of trading history.
Established in key industries like power generation and rail, this company offers specialised electrical and engineering services across the UK and Ireland, boasting strong relationships with blue-chip clients and a reliable income stream.
This well-established company has a decade-long track record in a growing market and is fully relocatable or can be operated remotely, providing flexibility for the new owner.
