A hotel group with 16 sites in rural and coastal locations across the UK has completed the sale of five of its hotels. Coast & Country Hotels engaged specialist business property adviser Christie & Co to oversee the sale to BH Group.
Christie & Co has now announced the sale of the Imperial Hotel in Exmouth, the St Ives Bay Hotel, and Ship & Castle Hotel in St Mawes, Cornwall to BH Group, which has also acquired the Burlington Hotel in Eastbourne and the Windermere Hotel in Cumbria.
The sale comes less than a year after Coast & Country Hotels sold another portfolio of four sites to Bespoke Hotels. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
James Routledge, Chief Information Officer of BH Group, commented: "These hotels form the basis of our drive into the growing staycation market. We are excited by these opportunities and others we are currently seeing in the market."
The acquisitions represent a significant addition to BH Group’s current hotel portfolio, which comprises the Swan in Newby Bridge, Hampton by Hilton Blackpool, two hotels in Manchester and three hotels in Falmouth.
The sale was managed by Christie & Co director and Head of Hotel Brokerage Jeremy Jones who said that the deal took Christie & Co to 31 successfully completed sales of Coast & Country hotels to a range of buyers.
He continued: “BH Group pursued these hotels with vigour and we are delighted to have reached this successful outcome. We know they have very exciting plans for these hotels.”
Stephen Champion, director – Hotels at Christie & Co, added that, despite the “well-publicised challenges” facing the UK’s hospitality sector, “buyer demand for hotels remains buoyant in the South West, with buyers keen to acquire quality opportunities."
