Bond UK Limited, the company behind two care homes in Leeds, has been acquired by a local, family-run operator. Through its trading company, Castlegrounds Limited, Bond UK Limited owns and operates the Red Court Care Home and The Grove Care Home in Leeds.
Royston Bond established Red Court in 1984, making it one of the first care homes in Leeds. The Grove, a purpose-built facility comprising 63 en-suite bedrooms, was opened in 2017. Together, the two homes, both located in the town of Pudsey, are registered to care for 101 residents.
After more than 40 years of ownership, Royston Bond recently decided to retire, engaging Christie & Co to broker a sale. Following a confidential sale process run by Christie & Co’s Jonathan Wickens, Bond UK Limited has been acquired by Warmest Welcome.
While founding director Royston Bond will retire, Manager Michaela Wadsworth - daughter of the company’s late co-founder Clare Spooner - will remain with the company post-acquisition.
Warmest Welcome, which is led by directors Steve and Tracey Holroyd, is a family-run care home operator, with eight other homes across North and West Yorkshire. The company has built a strong reputation for high levels of care.
Warmest Welcome director Tracey Holroyd said that Red Court and The Grove were “the opposite” of some other care homes the firm has taken over that required work to bring them up to standard, with the two new homes requiring no change to the way they are run or managed or to their employee team.
Holroyd continued: "We're delighted that the current manager, Michaela, is going to stay with us and are really impressed with the way the home is run - it's a lovely home in every way and is rated 'Good' in all areas with CQC.”
"We think that Red Court and The Grove are great - we're delighted to be able to add them to our group, and we're looking forward to working with everyone. Our only plans for the future are to introduce some digital solutions to make life easier for all the staff and better for the residents."
Jonathan Wickens, director – care at Christie & Co, added: "It has been a privilege working with Royston Bond over the last 20 years. We have now sold three homes on his behalf, and we wish him a long, happy, and healthy retirement. This is the eighth home we have sold to Warmest Welcome over the years - it is always a pleasure to work with Steve and Tracey, and we are sure they will continue to deliver the high standards of care to residents at Red Court and The Grove."
Despite strong ongoing activity, there are signs that the UK M&A market for insurance brokerages is shrinking
