A London-based lighting group has acquired an emergency lighting firm in a deal that brings together two leading lighting industry teams, delivering an expanded product range while providing opportunities for cross-selling.
Prime Light Group is a specialist distributor of electrical components, lighting solutions and associated technologies. The group serves a wide range of sectors, with customers across the UK and Europe.
Businesses within the group include providers of lighting components, driver components and smart controls. It has now enhanced its offering further with the acquisition of West Sussex-based Emergency Lighting Products (ELP) Limited, bringing in 30 years of expertise in emergency lighting solutions.
Based in Billinghurst and operating since 1995, ELP Limited develops a wide range of emergency lighting products in-house, including exit signs, floodlights, sensors and LED bulkheads.
According to a statement from Prime Light Group, the acquisition of ELP “perfectly complements” its portfolio across LEDs, drivers, control gear and smart lighting systems and will create “a unified platform capable of delivering nextâlevel lighting solutions”.
The group states that the deal will deliver significant upsides for customers, including a broader product range - with the addition of ELP’s specialist emergency systems, cross-sell advantages - with teams working cross-functionally to deliver complementary solutions, and a more comprehensive service offering - with enhanced technical support and stronger supply chain reach.
Commenting on the transaction, Prime Light Group CEO Sean Hounslow said that the deal represented “an opportunity to push boundaries, innovate faster, and serve our customers better through enhanced service, stronger supply chains, and an even deeper commitment to quality.”
Stricter building regulations, a wave of retrofitting, widespread fragmentation in a number of sub-sectors and increasing activity among private equity buyers are just a few of the key factors that are driving higher levels of dealmaking in the UK's building products and services market
