Dymag, a manufacturer of carbon car and motorbike rims for luxury vehicles, has been acquired by a German firm in a pre-pack deal. The company, which was founded in 1974 and had been backed by Puma Private Equity, specialises in designing and manufacturing carbon fibre wheels.
The trade and assets of Dymag Group Limited have now been acquired by Dymag Technologies Ltd, a new wholly owned subsidiary of BORBET GmbH, a German-based global manufacturer of light alloy wheels.
The deal includes the Dymag brand, as well as production facilities, patents and the immediate integration of all staff. Following the acquisition, Dymag Technologies will continue to supply BX-F wheels to aftermarket customers in Asia and the US and Tier 1 wheel companies worldwide, as well as continuing to develop and produce motorbike rims at its UK site.
Post- acquisition, Dymag Technologies will continue to be based in Chippenham and operate as a standalone subsidiary of BORBET. It will also work with the buyer to scale production of its OEM and aftermarket BX-F carbon hybrid wheels, which will be offered to the German firm’s OEM and aftermarket customers in order to ensure seamless integration into the BORBET portfolio.
BORBET Chief Executive Burkhard Plett said that the acquisition would expand the company’s portfolio to include carbon and magnesium rims. He continued: “This strategic decision underlines our aim to be a leader in all key automotive wheel technologies."
Dymag Technologies Limited director Chris Shelley commented: "We are delighted to be part of the BORBET family. This partnership is a significant step for Dymag branded products and will position Dymag Technologies as a leading supplier to premium car manufacturers worldwide. We thank Puma Private Equity for their long-standing commitment and support in the development of Dymag branded world-class carbon wheels."
