MattressTek, a machinery manufacturer based in Rossendale, Lancashire, has expanded with the acquisition of assets and personnel from a counterpart based in Accrington. The company has acquired the assets and personnel of MPC, creating a new business – MPC TEK.
MPC, which was formed in 2004, specialised in providing subcontract machining services. Following the acquisition, the firm’s operations manager Patrick Mitchell will remain a key part of the newly formed business.
MPC TEK will be the internal machining arm of MattressTek and the recently launched AutomateTek. The company, already established manufacturers of automation machinery and production lines for a range of industries, will now be able to bolster their operations, undertaking commissioned work, including CNC machining, turning, milling and metal working.
Shaun Peel, technical director at MattressTek and AutomateTek, said that the company had worked with MPC for many years and that when the firm became aware of the opportunity to acquire parts of MPC’s business “we couldn’t say no”.
Saying that the deal “significantly increases our in-house machining capability and contributes to our lean approach”, Peel added: "We will be building on their experience to also provide services to other companies who need it. Workers from the company will also join our fabrication department and take up some of the space in our recently expanded unit.”
