Buckinghamshire coach holiday company, Motts Leisure, has taken the opportunity to expand its operations by buying stricken Crusader Holidays out of administration.
The East Anglian Daily Times has reported that Motts rescued the Clacton-on-Sea-based firm from an uncertain future, after administrators from Ernst & Young were appointed earlier this month. Motts Leisure has had a close relationship with Crusader for a number of years, and is planning to maintain the separate brand.
Roger Mott, the managing director of parent company, Motts Coaches, said that the move would ensure that as many holidays as possible can go ahead. The small number of customers who will unfortunately see their bookings cancelled will receive a refund under the coach industry bonding scheme.
"Crusader Holidays is a quality tour operator who we have been proud to have been associated for the past 13 years," he said. "It is our intention to continue operating the Crusader brand of quality coach holidays within the UK and on the Continent for many years to come."
Motts will be taking over the Clacton booking office of Crusader Holidays and "many" of the current staff will be retained. Roy Finch, a long-term senior director with Crusader has been appointed as chief executive of the new Crusader operation.
