Troy, the UK’s largest network specialising in industrial and engineering supplies, has completed the acquisition of Scott Direct Ltd, further extending its business model and strategic market reach. The deal marks the 19th acquisition by Troy and the second since it received a multi-million pound investment from BGF in 2023.
Based in Exeter, Troy has established itself as a leading distributor in the MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) sector, collaborating with more than 400 member distributors and suppliers. Scott Direct Group, a supplier based in Grangemouth, Scotland, has now joined this expanding network, having previously been a member of Troy for several years.
This acquisition aligns with Troy's objectives following last year's financial backing from BGF, indicating a continued focus on expansion and support for independent businesses within the trade and industrial sectors.
Troy's Chief Executive Paul Kilbride (pictured above) commented: “Scott Direct has been a Troy member for many years and there has been a close connection to the owners throughout that time. We know how much independent businesses are valued in their communities and by the businesses that trade with them. Our aim is to help those businesses to grow with investment, without losing the knowledge, passion, and levels of customer service that only an independent business can provide.”
Last year’s BGF investment was led by James Skade and Hannah Waters, investors in BGF’s South West team. The deal saw Troy appoint former Wickes CEO Simon King as Non-Executive Chair, following an introduction from BGF’s Talent Network.
Following the latest deal, BGF investor James Skade said: “Troy is a dynamic company which is set to go from strength to strength as it continues to build a national business network with an excellent reputation and vast growth potential.”
“Troy is a success story that Exeter and the South West of England can be proud of. Its achievements to-date in building up a community of small businesses point to a very bright future and everyone at BGF is looking forward to supporting the team on its growth trajectory.”
