Legal services group BBS Law has completed an investment in London commercial law firm Carter Bond for an undisclosed sum. BBS Law is the legal services portfolio company of private equity investor Aliter Capital, which completed its investment in Manchester-based BBS last year.
With offices in Manchester and London, BBS Law is rapidly growing as it seeks to establish itself as a UK-wide legal services provider. The firm provides a range of legal services to a customer base that spans high-growth small-to-medium sized business, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals (HNWs).
North West London-based Carter Bond, which now becomes part of the group alongside BBS, specialises in commercial and corporate law, with a particular focus on the healthcare industry, and has a strong record of organic growth across the UK.
BBS was founded in 1978 and provides an array of legal services, including corporate, property, private client, employment, litigation, family law and secured lending.
BBS Managing Partner Dov Black (pictured above, left, with Reena Popat, centre, and James Davies, right) said that the firm shared “culture, ethos and values” with Carter Bond, describing the combination as a “great fit” that will bring “significant additional experience and resources to help us accelerate the next stage of the group’s development."
Aliter Capital partner James Davies said that the acquisition “enables BBS to add attractive, specialisms to its portfolio of services and extends the group’s regional footprint.”
He continued: “Through our deep-seated knowledge and experience of BBS’ main target markets, we will continue to support the continued drive for growth and provide access to capital for further expansion."
Davies added that Aliter was working closely with the BBS team on a pipeline of further acquisitions.
Carter Bond managing partner Reena Popat commented: "After ten years of sustained organic growth at Carter Bond, this move comes at an ideal time. We are enthused about the opportunity to become part of this exciting journey to create a UK market leader and we look forward to realising the new opportunities it will bring for our clients and colleagues at Carter Bond."
