B2W Group, a skills and training specialist backed by private equity firm Palatine, has expanded into green skills with the strategic acquisition of Greendale Limited, a company that specialises in smart meters, electricals and renewables training.
Stockport-based Greendale Limited, which trades as ECTA Training, has been operating since 2005 and trains in excess of 1,300 people each year in a variety of areas, such as heat pumps and solar panel installation.
The deal is B2W Group’s third acquisition since the Manchester-based company secured backing from Palatine’s Impact Fund in October 2020. The company said that the latest deal reflects its ongoing focus on acquiring specialists in niche sectors, with the group set to continue targeting training providers with Palatine’s backing.
The acquisition will enable ECTA to draw on B2W Group’s significant pool of shared services, including IT, finance, marketing and HR, meaning the business can focus on driving its growth. Following the completion of the deal, the company’s owners, David and Kerry-Anne Berry, have exited the business.
B2W Group Chief Executive Luke Muscat commented: "A move into the low carbon energy training space is highly strategic as we expect market demand to expand dramatically. We remain focused on acquiring niche sector specialist providers such as ECTA and using our platform to support their future growth."
Palatine Senior Investment Director James Painter added: "ECTA represents the third acquisition since our original investment in B2W Group and we see it as a strong strategic fit given the focus on green skills. The sector is still highly fragmented and we are keen to support the group in acquiring more high quality training providers in the future."
