Suggestions have started to be made that a there could be a care home for sale in Anglesey, North Wales.
A public meeting in the town this week (16 October) discussed the future of the Plas Penlan residential care home, which is in doubt due to funding issues, the Daily Post has reported. The property could shift hands in the future, out of the council's control and into the private sector.
The council explained that the care home is struggling with “underinvestment” noting that it “no longer meets regulatory expectations” and might have to be sold.
Residents are anxious not to lose access to the service, with Benllech GP Alex Gordon-Clark describing the care home as “an excellent place delivering an excellent service.”
Anglesey County Council's director of community, Gwen Carrington, was keen to stress that “no decisions” have been made in relation to Plas Penlan or any other care homes in the region, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the council might have to consider selling off some of the properties.
A further meeting will be held later this week to discuss the situation in greater detail.
