Spotless Commercial Cleaning Limited, a cleaning company based in Edinburgh, has acquired Norwich-based Ashdown Cleaning. The deal adds 100 staff to Spotless’ growing UK team and takes its annual turnover beyond the £20 million mark.
Founded in 2010, Ashdown Cleaning has established a strong presence in Norfolk and East Anglia, serving commercial clients in office premises, manufacturing facilities, business parks, retail locations and medical and dental practices.
The deal bolsters Spotless’ footprint in East Anglia, where the firm holds a number of existing commercial cleaning contracts, and represents a continuation of the acquisitive growth into England that it undertook last year. During 2023, the company acquired Manchester-based Purity Group and Salisbury-based Clearsprings Support Services Ltd.
Spotless, which was founded in 1988, now operates more than 1,700 contracts across the UK, providing a full range of cleaning services from clients including blue chip companies, industrial leaders, retail outlets and commercial premises.
Following the acquisition, Spotless CEO Carron Henley said: “Ashdown Cleaning has established a strong base and an excellent reputation with its clients across Norfolk and the wider East Anglia area. We’re delighted to welcome their great people to the Spotless team as we look to growing our footprint across the region and in other parts of the UK.”
Regarding the company’s ongoing growth, Spotless Chairman and Founder Roger Green said: “The office cleaning market is still in flux. Despite this, Spotless continues to go from strength to strength. This latest acquisition significantly enhances our market presence in East Anglia and builds on our growth strategy focused on expanding our presence to cover every UK postcode.”
