Sofina Foods Europe, a North Yorkshire-headquartered supplier of seafood and pork products, has acquired food manufacturing business Finnebrogue. The acquisition adds four facilities in County Down, Northern Ireland, along with around 1,200 staff, meaning that Sofina Foods Europe now employs over 9,000 staff across 27 sites.

Sofina Foods Europe, which is headquartered in Malton, North Yorkshire, supplies both branded and own-label seafood and pork products. The group’s pork division is one of the UK and Ireland’s largest processors and suppliers, while its seafood businesses is the UK’s largest provider of chilled and frozen products.
The acquisition of Finnebrogue’s four County Down sites is expected to complement the group’s existing distribution network across both the UK and Europe. Sofina Foods founder, chairman and Chief Executive Michael Latifi said that the deal would enable the group “to continue our journey of ambitious expansion", adding that the two firms “share a common culture of excellence, discipline and integrity”.
