A well-known family-run garden centre in South Wales has been put up for sale for the first time in 50 years. Located close to the town of Monmouth, Millbrook Garden Centre is being marketed for sale by specialist business property agent Christie & Co.
Millbrook covers seven acres and features several buildings, including a large, dedicated retail area, customer car park, detached cafe and a five-bedroom house built in a converted mill. The business has been owned and operated by the Wright family since 1971.
According to Christie & Co, the garden centre has become renowned for its horticultural offering, with the business selling a diverse array of unusual and exotic plants.
The business has performed well over recent years, with little competition in the area, and has seen a particular increase in trade as a result of the growing popularity of gardening during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Christie & Co note that the business will require some investment.
Commenting on the sale, Christie & Co Retail Associate Director Tom Glanvill said: “We are seeing unprecedented demand for garden centres, following a period of exceptional trade in the last year.”
“Millbrook is the ideal offering; a strong established freehold business on a large site, with huge potential for further development to modernise the centre and increase the range of products available.”
