Stairlift retailer Dolphin Lifts Midlands has been acquired out of administration by elevator, escalator and stairlift provider Deltron Lifts. The company fell into administration on August 31 2023, with FRP Advisory’s Benjamin Neil Jones and Rajnesh Mittal appointed as joint administrators.
The joint administrators subsequently secured a sale of Dolphin Lifts Midlands’ business and certain assets to Deltron Lifts. Deltron provides a wide range of services, including: maintenance and repair of all types and makes of passenger and goods lifts; refurbishment, installation, testing and commission of new lifts: modernisation and refurbishment.
The Birmingham-based firm provides services across Central England, London and the South Coast. Its acquisition of Dolphin Lifts Midlands follows its takeover of specialist mobility aids retailer Snowdrop Independent Living in March 2023.
Dolphin Lifts Midlands was founded more than 30 years ago and based in Tipton. The company covered a significant area of the West Midlands and specialised in supply, installation, maintenance and repair of a wide range of access solutions. The company’s customer base included private customers and local authorities.
The family-owned business, which was acquired in 2007, had moved into a new facility, including new offices, a warehouse and showroom in autumn 2019 as it sought to support its growth. Despite this, the company fell into insolvency, although few details have been disclosed regarding why the business entered administration.
In its most recent accounts, for the year ending June 30 2022, Dolphin Lifts Midlands’ fixed assets were valued at £202,732 and current assets at £1.6 million, while net assets amounted to £343,706.
