4Com, a business telecoms provider based in Dorset, has completed its sixth acquisition within the span of 14 months with a deal for Southern Business Communications (SBC). The deal forms part of the company’s ongoing acquisitive growth strategy and it says it has further acquisitions in the pipeline.
SBC, which is based in Hampshire, was founded in 1990 and provides cloud telephone systems, mobile, internet and wifi services across the UK. The acquisition follows 4Com’s recent takeovers of Eastern Voice and Data, Reach Digital Telecoms and Midshire Telecom and its acquisition of the business customers of Bluebell Cloud Solutions and Meridian IT Communications.
Commenting on the company’s growth, 4Com CEO Gary Scutt said that its acquisition strategy “continues to play an important role in accelerating our growth” and revealed that the SBC acquisition had come to the firm directly “through a recommendation from previously acquired business owners.”
He added: “This is the latest in a growing amount of direct acquisition enquiries we’ve received; we’re hearing from these companies that other acquirers are getting through due diligence then changing the deal at the last minute.”
“That plays into our hands, as they are then walking away from those deals and coming to us. We establish a fit before any expense of due diligence; once we know it’s a fit and a deal is agreed, we stick to it. Six out of 6 have made it through full due diligence and completed at the agreed price and structure.”
Scutt continued that the company has “further acquisitions already in the pipeline” and encouraged any businesses seeking a sale to get in touch with the firm, saying that being acquired could help businesses struggling with increasing interest rates.
