Business telecoms firm 4Com has continued its acquisitive growth with a deal to acquire part of the business customer base of Kent-based Fairfield Telecommunications. The deal, which completed for an undisclosed amount, sees the Bournemouth-based firm add to its existing base of around 13,000 clients.
The acquisition is the firm’s seventh in the space of just over a year, following its recent deals for the customer base of Meridian IT Communications in May and Southern Business Communications in June, continuing a busy streak for the firm, which only made the first acquisition in its more than 20-year history in summer 2022.
As with 4Com’s acquisitions of Meridian and Bluebell Cloud Solutions, the deal only involves the acquisition of the customer base, with Fairfield Telecom continuing to trade as a separate business. Following the deal, 4Com CEO Gary Scutt said that it was “constantly seeking new opportunities” to make further acquisitions.
4Com Chief Operating Officer Dean Cartledge said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our third customer-base acquisition and pleased with how smoothly the transition has gone. We understand the difficult decisions that come with selling parts, or the entirety, of your company and the amount of hard work that is required with an acquisition.”
Fairfield Telecom director Matthew Thomas added: This deal will help us generate additional funds to re-invest into our business. We’ve appreciated 4Com’s approach throughout this process; they’ve been upfront and honest with us, and the deal has gone smoothly throughout. We are confident that our customers are in good hands, and we’re looking forward to what the future holds for us thanks to the funds this sale creates.”
