A provider of travel services to a raft of professional golfers including Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Colin Montgomerie has been sold.
Fairway International Travel Limited, based in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, was acquired by Manchester-based travel firm Incorporate Travel Management Limited.
Fairway, established in the 1990s, provides bespoke travel itineraries for star golfers and is the sole supplier of travel for the European Tour. Alongside McIlroy, McDowell and Montgomerie, it provides travel for other household golfing names.
Incorporate, which has acquired Fairway as it looks to invest in the sports travel sector, provides travel management to UK brands and individuals.
Deal advisors KBS Corporate said Fairway holds a “unique position” in the golf travel market and offered “excellent growth potential” to buyers, driven by a number of innovative projects including a travel app and online booking tool.
Guy Haynes of KBS said: “From the outset there was an obvious synergy between Fairway and Incorporate Travel.
"Incorporate were looking to develop a sports division and Fairway had an outstanding client base in the golf sector as well as an extremely well-run operation."
