California-based space domain awareness company ExoAnalytic Solutions is set to acquire a UK space research and technology start-up. ExoAnalytic Solutions has outlined its aim of acquiring 3S Northumbria and establishing it as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
The Northumberland-based company is known for its innovative space technology and data integration work. The integration of the firm into ExoAnalytic Solutions would enable the US-based company to offer a broader range of commercial SSA services, specifically tailored to the requirements of UK space initiatives.
ExoAnalytic Solutions says it is seeking to “supercharge” the development of the skills and experience that are required to support the UK’s space ambitions. The strategic acquisition will also significantly bolster the company’s presence in the UK and Europe.
ExoAnalytic Solutions Chief Executive Douglas Hendrix said that 3S Northumbria’s "mission to ensure the safe and sustainable use of space perfectly complements our unparalleled space domain awareness capabilities.”
He continued: “This acquisition will allow us to better serve the UK government and other partners with enhanced SSA services, ensuring more comprehensive monitoring and protection of space assets."
Ralph Dinsley, founder and Managing Director of 3S Northumbria, commented: "The UK Government is increasingly focused on securing its interests in space. Becoming part of ExoAnalytic Solutions provides us with the opportunity to leverage their global infrastructure and experience, significantly boosting our ability to deliver high-quality SSA data and services to the UK and our other clients."
The acquisition is expected to close within the next few weeks, during the second quarter of 2024, subject to customary closing conditions and the relevant regulatory approvals being received.
