Yorkshire-based nursing home operator Whitwood Care has been purchased by Care UK.
Whitwood Care, a subsidiary of Michael Wheatley Holdings, is based in Castleford and runs three care homes - Whitwood House, Whitwood Hall and Whitwood Grange (pictured) - with a total of 48 beds for adults with learning disabilities.
Care UK was founded in 1982 and is a leading provider of health and social care in Britain. It operates GP centres, care homes and hospitals, and gives support to people in a community level.
Care UK was bought by private equity firm Bridgepoint in March 2010, and the deal valued the business at £423 million.
Whitwood Care is to be integrated into the community services division of Care UK.
David Hardless and Ben Peacock from Park Place Corporate Finance led the deal, its second in the care sector in the past month.
Mr Hardless commented, “Whitwood provides highly specialist care on behalf of a number of local authorities and is often the fist stage of a service user’s pathway to an improved quality of life.
“The business is a very good fit for Care UK, who are seeking to develop a complete service user pathway across the UK.”
