The Marine Hotel, a prominent seafront hotel located in the coastal town of Ballycastle, County Antrim, has been brought to market with a price tag of £4.95 million. The hotel is located in close proximity to some of Northern Ireland’s most famous landmarks.
Situated prominently on the Ballycastle promenade, the Marine Hotel offers views across the Atlantic towards the Scottish coastline and is located a short distance from the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, and the Dark Hedges.
The hotel features 51 en-suite bedrooms, including two deluxe suites, and is the only BCorp Hotel on the north coast, having attained the certification in May 2025. Additionally, it scored a four-star rating from the AA in August 2024.
The Marine Hotel offers dining options, including Marconi’s Bar & Bistro restaurant, and is a popular venue for events including weddings and conferences, providing banqueting and conference facilities that can accommodate up to 300 guests. The hotel also offers private dining options and is licensed for civil ceremonies.
Real estate services firm Savills is leading the sale of the hotel, which is located on an approximately 1.4 acre site, and has said that the property offers significant potential for further development.
The hotel has secured final planning permission for an additional 14 bedrooms, the conversion of the Country Club to ten self-catering holiday units and a number of alterations to the existing hotel, including an extended restaurant and bar on the ground floor and a new drop-off area and entrance.
Savills Belfast Director Neal Morrison said that the sale presented “an extraordinary opportunity to acquire a well-established and highly profitable seafront hotel along one of Northern Ireland's most scenic routes.”
Morrison added that the Marine Hotel’s “combination of a prime location, modern facilities, and potential for further development makes it a standout offering in today’s market.”
Tom Barrett, Director of Hotels & Leisure at Savills, stated that the sale was “a rare chance to purchase a four-star asset that is not only trading successfully but also offers significant potential for future expansion.”
Barrett continued that the hotel was already an established leader in the local hospitality market and that the potential redevelopments offer the possibility to elevate the business even further.
He added: “For investors, this property offers a combination of immediate returns and long-term growth opportunities in one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic coastal locations."
