The White Hart hotel, a 24-bedroom grade II listed hotel in Dorchester-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, has been put up for sale with an asking price of £1.85 million. The hotel is being brought to market due to the current owners planning to retire.
The hotel, a former coaching inn on Dorchester-on-Thames' High Street, comprises 24 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant with 50 covers, a bar and residents’ lounge with 40 covers and an outside patio area. The hotel also features two private meeting rooms, which are available for hire, a commercial kitchen, five staff bedrooms and a managers’ office.
Parts of the hotel date back to the 1600s, but it has seen significant investment since it was acquired by current owners Nigel and Sue Oddy in 2000, including a recent refurbishment of its restaurant. The hotel is within walking distance of popular tourist attractions including Dorchester Abbey, while the city of Oxford and retail hub Bicester Village are both a short drive away.
Current co-owner Nigel Oddy said that there are opportunities to further develop the hotel, but that he and his wife felt that now was the right time to sell. The hotel is being brought to market by the Hotel Agency team at commercial property agent Colliers.
Peter Brunt, Director of Hotels Agency at Colliers, commented: “Nigel and Sue have built a strong business at the White Hart Hotel which is popular not only with overnight guests but also with the local residents and visitors to the area who enjoy the quality food and real ale available behind the bar.”
“This is a beautiful property in the heart of the local high street, with potential opportunities to expand further. It’s rare to have the opportunity to invest in a property of this size in the region, and I’m sure will attract plenty of interest from buyers.”
