Hull-based wind turbine firm TRG Wind has sold its recruitment business and opened a new operations centre to expand its services.
TRG, which provides wind turbine technicians and safety and maintenance services to wind turbine manufacturers, said it had closed a deal for a space at Tower House Lane Business Park, close to Hull’s renewables sector.
The move is part of an ambitious expansion plan - the company wants to build on its first-year £1.5 million turnover at a growth rate of 150 per cent.
TRG has sold its recruitment arm to Nico Young, its former operations co-ordinator. Young will become managing director and 100 per cent shareholder of the newly-formed personnel company, RS Wind.
The firm’s new operations centre will replace its existing site in Hull, at The Deep Business Centre.
David Elcombe, managing director of TRG Wind, said the company will grow by focusing on offering its range of specialist added value services to wind industry manufacturers, developers and operators.
“In the past we have been supplying personnel to the industry and we have also supplied packaged and fixed price services such as retro-fits and installations,” he said.
“We think we can bring in more work if we separate recruitment from the rest of what we do so we have decided to sell that side of the business.
“At the moment almost all our work is onshore and overseas. There is the potential to increase that and to expand our activities in the offshore sector. Hull’s port facilities and the growing renewables sector are important factors in our growth, as is the fact that a lot of people in the area have worked offshore.”
