Irwin Mitchell has acquired the immigration team and ongoing work from a fellow law firm in a deal that bolsters its private client immigration team. The firm has acquired the team from Carter Thomas, bringing in significant specialist expertise in sectors including corporate compliance, education, sports and technology.
As a result of the acquisition, Irwin Mitchell’s immigration team will have specialists working across offices in London, Newcastle, Sheffield and Manchester.
The Carter Thomas team is ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners guides. Following the acquisition, the team will transition to the growing Irwin Mitchell immigration team, led by National Head and partner Mandeep Khroud (pictured above).
Under Khroud’s leadership, Irwin Mitchell’s immigration team has tripled in size over the past three years, diversifying across high-net-worth, corporate, personal and human rights immigration matters.
Post-acquisition, Carter Thomas founder Nichola Carter will join the Irwin Mitchell immigration team as a partner, bringing significant sector knowledge.
Carter commented: "We've built a reputation for delivering straightforward, expert advice quickly and clearly. Joining Irwin Mitchell gives us access to a full suite of legal services, enabling us to support our clients even more comprehensively. We're excited to be part of such a forward-thinking and dynamic team."
Mandeep Khroud added: "This is a fantastic addition to our team. Our new colleagues bring excellent expertise and deep sector specialisms that perfectly complement our existing strengths. Together, we're establishing ourselves as a powerhouse in UK Immigration law."
The acquisition continues a period of strong growth for Irwin Mitchell, which passed £300 million in revenue for the first time last year and, over recent years, has established new offices in Liverpool, Cardiff, Brighton and Nottingham.
