Law firm Irwin Mitchell has completed a pair of acquisitions that were announced last year after securing regulatory approval. The company has sealed the takeovers of Scottish full-service law firm Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie and North East family law firm Silk Family Law.
Following the closure of the Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie deal, Irwin Mitchell partners Bruce Macmillan, Craig Marshall, and Mark Higgins have joined the firm’s newly formed management board, which will help the two companies to share best practice and capitalise on opportunities for further growth.
Post-acquisition, Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie will continue to operate in Scotland under its existing brand for the immediate future, with Managing Partner Fraser Gillies continuing to lead operations.
Mark Higgins, managing partner for Irwin Mitchell in Scotland, said: "Over recent weeks and months, teams and colleagues from Irwin Mitchell and Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie have been meeting and supporting each other with a focus on the future.”
"Now that the deal is complete, we can accelerate our plans to grow our businesses and we're looking forward to working together to maximise the opportunities both sides of the border for our clients."
Silk Family Law, which has operations in Newcastle, Leeds and Richmond, North Yorkshire, provides services in all areas of matrimonial and family law, including financial and children matters. The acquisition forms part of Irwin Mitchell’s aim of growing its family and private client operations in the North East and North Yorkshire.
Irwin Mitchell’s Director of Legal Services, Family Law Ros Bever commented: "I'm delighted to officially be welcoming the Silk Family Law team to our business. We're already working closely together to develop our plans for growth and this acquisition offers us the opportunity to expand our family law and private client offer in the Northeast of England."
