Criminal legal firm ABR Solicitors has undergone a management buyout arrangement that will see it become a specialist practice.
The MBO was led by the senior partner Rob Rode, and involves the senior management team of Tony Murphy, Susannah Proctor, and Keith Allen. Funding was provided by NatWest.
Based in Yorkshire, the business offers a range of fraud crime and regulatory services. It defends prosecutions and investigations of varying natures, and additionally advises businesses about regulatory compliance.
Originally part of Leeds law firm Clarion, ABR Solicitors has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, and has offices in Liverpool, Harrogate, Huddersfield and Keighley as well as Leeds. It has 27 criminal lawyers across its offices.
It rebranded in 2012, changing its name from Clarion Advocates to ABR Solicitors.
Mark Burns, managing partner at Clarion, commented: “Together we have pursued a strategy of optimising its strong reputation in criminal law by establishing a network of offices throughout the north and the practice is now at a stage to operate as a successful, stand-alone business.”
Clarion was set up in February 2007, when Peter McCormick, one of the best-known lawyers in Yorkshire, sold his Leeds practice to a team of lawyers at the firm.
