The managers of a successful veterinary clinic in the Peak District have been able to secure funding that has allowed them to complete a management buy-out of the business.
Willem Schaper and Giles Bramwell, who have worked at the Bakewell Veterinary Clinic for six and four years respectively, were offered the funding for the purchase by HSBC - indicating that the major banks are showing increasing receptiveness for making loans to promising small business deals.
The MBO now secures the future of the surgery, which was first founded in the Derbyshire town more than 100 years ago. It currently operates from two sites in Bakewell, one of which is a specialist equine centre on Buxton Road.
Mr Schaper said that they were delighted that HSBC’s commercial banking team in South Yorkshire had seen the promise of the venture and afforded them the confidence and funding to take ownership of the business.
"Our vision to provide high quality medical services to existing and potential customers has been cemented with this new banking relationship," said Mr Schaper, who is the surgery's leading practitioner of ophthalmic care. "We look forward to growing the business further with the support of HSBC."
