The Chelmsford Medical Centre (CMC) has been acquired from MedTel UK Ltd in a management buy-out, according to corporate finance advisers Watersheds, who advised on the deal.
CMC - which is a private medical centre providing outpatient services including diagnostic imaging services - has been bought out by the clinicians who practice at the centre, with the retention of all existing staff.
The centre has specialised in neck and back pain and gastrointestinal complaints since its opening in 2006. CMC will now operate under the management of new chairman and spinal neuro-surgeon John Sutcliffe, who was one of the founders of the London Spine Clinic.
John Sutcliffe said, “My colleagues and I are delighted that we have been able to acquire the Chelmsford Medical Centre and that so many local clinicians have committed to support its future operations.
I anticipate that the way is now clear towards expanding the level and scope of services to our patients in Chelmsford, in Essex, and further afield,” he added.
Lead advisor for the MBO, Watersheds' Andrew Nicholson, said that CMC filled a 'clear gap' in the provision of healthcare in the Chelmsford area and that the team would look to expand over the next few years.
