A leading media sales company has regained its independence after a recent period of success and stability paved the way for a successful management buy-out.
The Manchester-based Media Sales Network (MSN) saw the buy-out finalised last week, putting its ownership into the hands of its managing director, Angela Wilkinson, commercial director, Rachael Andrew, and chairman David Moran.
The trio said that they were delighted to have purchased the company from the Salford-based Unique Communications Group, and were "very excited about the future."
The company was first established in 1982 by Robert Johnstone, who ran the company until it was purchased by Unique in 2001. During that period the company, which offers cost-efficient sales representation for blue-chip media owners including Bauer, Time Out and Tesco, gained a reputation as one of Manchester's most important independent media sales houses.
Ms Wilkinson said the company's time spent under the ownership of Unique had provided it with both growth and challenges - "particularly the recent squeeze on advertising revenues" - but throughout the period, the company had remained commercially successful.
She said that there was a buoyant spirit to the company's team of staff and they were now looking to rebrand the company and raise its profile in the region once again.
