Independent TV production business Shed Media is in the middle of advanced talks over a possible management buyout with a consortium led by Bowmark Capital and Darwin Private Equity.
Both parties have demonstrated an interest in the media industry. Bowmark Capital previously held a 20 per cent stake in Wife Swap producer RDF Media, while Darwin has invested in All3Media, a production and distribution company.
Shed Media, created by Scot Eileen Gallagher, was responsible for the popular Supernanny and 'Who do you think you are?' shows, and also produced the Oscar-winning documentary Man on Wire.
Shed reported underlying profits for the year to 31 December of £12 million, a slight increase from the previous year. Revenues also showed an increase of 13.1 per cent to £92.6m.
It has expanded its business in America by 56 per cent by way of programme hours, with the creation of the US versions of Supernanny and Who do you think you are?
Chief executive Nick Southgate commented: "Whilst the UK commissioning environment remains challenging, we see some improvement in the global market for our intellectual property and we expect to continue to capture market share in the US."
