Two of Belfast’s largest accountancy practices have announced a merger plan to consolidate their expertise and client bases, reports the Belfast Telegraph.
The Belfast division of ASM Chartered Accountants, which is based on Rosemary Street, has announced that it is to merge with fellow Belfast accountancy practice Crawford Sedgwick.
ASM Chartered Accountants was founded in 1995 and has operations in Belfast, Dublin, Dundalk, Dungannon, Magherafelt and Newry. It currently has a workforce numbering 170 staff. Crawford Sedgwick, which specialises in consultancy services and taxation, was founded in 1976.
The merger will be completed on Wednesday 1 June 2016, with the staff of both company’s being integrated at ASM Chartered Accountants’ Rosemary Street office.
Brian Clerkin, the managing director of ASM Chartered Accountants, said of his company’s merger with Crawford Sedgwick: “We have been looking for merger opportunities for some time and this one came up at a very opportune stage for our business. For us, it is an excellent fit in terms of Crawford Sedgwick's client base, the size of their firm, their stellar reputation and excellent skill set, which we feel is a perfect fit with our own client base and ethos."
Drew Crawford, a senior partner at Crawford Sedgwick, said of the recently announced deal with ASM Chartered Accountants: “John Sedgwick and I are pleased to have agreed this merger of our practice with such a rapidly growing and award winning company as ASM. We look forward to achieving further growth as part of the enlarged business.”
